Latest from our Vineyard Blog: Three Wishes Chardonnay finally gets a Gold Medal !

After several silver medals over the years for our chardonnays, we have finally bagged an elusive Gold Medal in the Tasmanian Wine show this week -judged by Huon Hooke and James Halliday.

This now completes the trifecta, having won golds for our pinot and rielsing in the previous 5 years since our first vintage .

The medal was for our 2005 chardonnay, a wine that was rebottled in 2006 after stability problems, and laid down to rest the past 4 years. This same wine was the pick of our 5 chardonnay vintages at a recent tasting at Rathdowne Cellrs in Melbourne, and is available to purchase directly of them (please see link on our web page). It’s a good example that tassie Chardonnay doesnt need to be drunk immediately, and can get much better with maturity.

We also won a silver medal for our 2008 Three Wishes Pinot, narrowly missing out on a second gold medal. Although we didnt get medals for our 2009 vintage chardonnay, pinot and rielsing , this has happened in all previous shows to our 1 year old wines, with the following year and a bit of maturity in bottle leading to big improvements in the next showing (2008 riesling-silver, 2007 Chardonnay -silver, 2007-8 pinot silver).

We are 100% organic this year (as we were in 2010) and are looking forward to a great crop-fingers crossed !!!! Thanks Peter
